I have the Academic 100% scholarship and have run into a snag in my college classes. My gradepoint average went from 4.0 to a 2.1 in the last semester. I guess I bit off more than I can handle. Anways I really want to keep my scholarship! I was wondering what the requirements are to keep bright futures?|||Kevin:
To retain eligibility for the Florida Bright Futures Academic Scholars Award, a student must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0. If your GPA falls below 3.0 at the end of any academic year, you will lose your Academic Scholars Award for the following year.
Academic Scholars who post a cumulative GPA of less than 3.0, but at least 2.75, will be bumped down to the Merit Scholars Award, which will only cover 75% of your tuition and fees. An Academic Scholar whose cumulative GPA falls below 2.75 will lose their Bright Futures award completely.
Here's an important tip for you - summer grades can be used to 'save' your GPA. If your GPA is in danger of falling below the requirements, you can take summer courses to boost your GPA before the next year begins - that way you can retain your scholarship. (To do this, you must ask your financial aid officer at your home school to report an updated status to the Bright Futures program - this is NOT automatic).
If you become ineligible, you are allowed one shot at "restoration". You can apply for restoration when your cumulative GPA climbs above the minimum required for your award. Again, this is NOT automatic - you will need to complete a special form and have your financial aid department certify your regained conformance.
So - I hope that helped you - for more info, visit the Bright Futures Scholarship page at the Florida Student Scholarship and Grants website: http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.or鈥?/a>
Good luck!|||Well, I guess the first answer kinda answered that question for you, but no despair! There are a lot of other really easy scholarships that you can get, and when added up it will probably be a lot of money. I would go to scholarshipexperts.com and make profiles on websites like Ceppex
Here's the website:
http://www.cappex.com/?code=BLP4892
If you do choose to make a profile, which you really should because they give out a lot of really easy scholarships, then please put in the following promoter code. If I get a lot of people to sign up, I could get 1000 dollars, and someone who signed up would get 500 dollars, meaning it could be you! I will decide who wins that with random.org if I happened to win.
Your Cappex Promoter Code: BLP4892
